The Habs have traded RFA Corey Locke to the Minnesota Wild in exchange for defenseman Shawn Belle.
Belle, 23, has played in the AHL for the past 3 seasons. The 6-foot-2 235 pounder had 3 points in 74 games last season for Houston. Belle was named to the Canadian National time 4 times during his junior career. He captured gold with Team Canada's juniors in 2005.
Corey Locke, 24, never really had a chance to make it in Montreal. He played in one career game for the Habs, but was supposed to play in 2 were it not for the fact that his equipment didn't arrive in time for a game. Locke has spent the last 4 seasons in the AHL, becoming Hamilton's all-time points leader in that time.
Belle was the 30th overall pick in '03; Locke, 113th.
