Report: Ovechkin Re-Signs

CAN WE FINALLY STOP SAYING OVECHKIN TO MONTREAL YET?

Maybe this will help...

RDS.ca reports that Alexander the Gr8 has re-upped with the Caps on a 6-year, $54 million contract extension. That's a 9$mil/year salary, but it may be paid out differently year-to-year of course. TSN.ca is now reporting that the deal is imminent but not finalized just yet, which leads me to believe that there are a few tweaks here and there that need adjusting (i.e. bonuses). Expect the official signing to come within 24-48 hours.

ovechkin in montreal, good one. On the topic we shouldn't keep our hopes up for lecavalier to save the franchise either... or crosby.

As I said to a buddy of mine, we were starting to look a little dumb as hockey fans lately with all of our Ovi-to-MTL rumours...

We have to remember, we have BRAINS too as habs fans...not just hearts...so let's start using them to figure out things, such Washington re-signing Alex.

No offense though, I still want crazy rumours and opinions on my site! So keep 'em coming!

p.s. thanks Jeff for allowing me to develop the 'think with our brains not our hearts' quote...good ol' scarp!

p.p.s. With Lecavalier off our minds, and now Ovechkin off our minds, who's next to root for?

CAN I BE THE OFFICIAL ONE TO START THE PHANEUF-To-MONTREAL RUMOUR???

Here goes...

Guys, Phaneuf must like Montreal...the crowd, the feel, the city...so it could be we offer him an offersheet!!! Strap on your seatbelts, the Double-Dion is coming!

How about this one (somewhat realistic): Toronto falls out of the playoff picture and decide to rent out Sundin. Habs pick him up (probably for a ridiculous price) and finally have that number one center they desperately need. It would help them in the playoffs for sure but is it worth the prospects/draft picks/etc...

I don't see that happening because Sundin in all likelihood would want to return to and retire with Toronto, and Bob is not the type of GM to dish off youth in exchange for a rental if he is unsure of how deep this team can go with it's current roster in the playoffs...and how bad will he look for supplying the LEAFS of all teams with a crop of young talent? Gainey will look worse than Ferguson Jr., which is nearly impossible (unless he dishes out for Sundin of course).
