Habs Acquire Lang, Re-Sign UFA Brisebois

The Montreal Canadiens have traded a 2nd round pick in 2010 (Toronto's, fromt he Grabovski deal) to the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for Robert Lang.

The 37 year old Czech native had 21 goals and 33 assists in 76 games for the Hawks last season.

This should mark the end of the Mats Sundin saga, as Lang brings with him a hefty contract at $4 million. The contract expires at year's end.

The Habs then went ahead and re-signed Patrice Brisebois...

Also 37, Brisebois had 11 points in 43 games with the Habs last season. He played 'well' when compared to what he brought to the table a few seasons ago, but I'm not sure I'm thrilled about this move, as it must be sending a mixed-signal to some of the Habs young defensemen, such as Ryan O'Byrne or Pavel Valentenko.
