Veteran Schneider Placed On Waivers

The Anaheim Ducks are apparently making room for Teemu Selanne.

Mathieu Schneider and his $5.75 million price tag has been placed on waivers today by the Ducks. He has one-year remaining on his contract.

The 39-year old Schneider played in 65 games during the regular season in 2007/08, scoring 12 goals and 27 assists with a plus-22 rating. He took part in all six of the Ducks' playoff games scoring one goal with a minus-3.

It is expected that Los Angeles (still under the salary floor) will make a bid for Schneider, as will the Atlanta Thrashers, who have been rumoured to be in the hunt for a veteran defenseman for a few weeks now.
