It's Official: Demitra A Canuck; Straka Gone Overseas

Pavol Demitra has officially put ink to paper after weeks of speculation that he would join the Vancouver Canucks.

Demitra signed a two-year, $8 million deal. He expects Vancouver to be a contender this year and for years to come.

Martin Straka is following some of his peers and heading to Europe; however, this time, it's not to the Russian Continental Hockey League.

The 35-year old, who played for the New York Rangers the last three seasons after joining the NHL in 1992, will also take the post of manager-general for HC Lasselsberger Plzen of the Czech league, the club said on its website.
